The George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust was formed in England in 1979 to raise funds for the work being done in the Kora National Park in northern Kenya by George Adamson and his assistant Tony Fitzjohn.

Originally called the Kora Wildlife Preservation Trust, George, in 1988, asked that the name be changed to the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust so that projects could be undertaken that were not confined to Kora. Since then, substantial effort has gone in to the restoration of the Mkomazi Game Reserve in Tanzania as well as advice and aid being made available to Kora, when requested, in continuation of Adamson’s dream of an Africa with wild and natural areas where animals can remain free.

John Rendall, a Trustee of and active fundraiser for GAWPT shared his experiences with Christian the Lion at our Art of Giving exhibitions in both 2009 and 2010 which had a profound affect on all those who attended. John travels the world highlighting animal conservation issues and to raise much needed funds.

John Rendall, along with fellow Australian Anthony Bourke, took a lion (Christian) to George Adamson for rehabilitation in the Kora National Park in 1970. Christian's successful rehabilitation was the subject of a book "Lion Called Christian" published by William Collins & Sons and subsequently filmed for television documentaries. Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message of the charity is simple:
